Police find remains of missing woman

The search for Diane Grégoire's body is over and the search is on for her killer.

The SQ has confirmed they found the remains of the missing South Shore woman.

"The expertise that were done on the remains allows us today to be able to confirm without a doubt that these are the remains of Diane Grégoire," SQ Lt. Guy Lapointe told a news conference.

The SQ is now taking over the murder case from Longueuil police, after Grégoire's remains and some clothing were discovered last week in a thickly wooded area by a passerby on the SQ's territory in Côteau-du-Lac off the western tip of the island.

For now, no suspects, no arrests, and no more details on what they found.

"The last thing I want to do is cause any problem with the investigation in any way," Lapointe said.

The 51-year-old woman went missing four years ago this coming January from a St. Bruno shopping mall, her husband saying that was the last time he saw her.

An extensive investigation included a search on a pig farm in St. Valérien-de-Milton near Granby that began in September and ended over 20 days ago.

"I will not say that today we are going back to square one, absolutely not."

Longueuil police say they received about 300 tips since the investigation began.
