Around 1:25 a.m. people were woken up this morning, Feb. 11, 2013, as a gunman broke into an apartment on the 15800 block of 39th Place South in Tukwila and found himself confronting a man and his adult son. The gunman shot both of the men, one in the leg and the other in the chest, he was also wounded but police are yet to say if he was shot with his own weapon or a second weapon. Just a short time later the gunman was caught by a police dog.
All three of the men have been taken to a local hospital for treatment of their gun shot wounds. None of the wounds are life-threatening and all three of them are expected to make a full recovery. At this time there is no known motive for the man to break in or to shoot the two victims. Police dogs often help track down and capture suspects trying to hide from the police. With their keen sense of smell and hearing, it would be hard to hide from one, making them valuable to every police force.
