A Palatka, Fla. couple was arrested earlier this week after local law enforcement discovered two of their children tied up inside their home. The children were 1-year-old identical twin boys. Michael Anthony Turner (24) and Kaitlynn Paige Turner (22) each stand charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse and two counts of child neglect.
Background according to the PSCO: On Monday, March 5, 2012, Florida’s Putnam County Sheriff's Office (PSCO) deputies responded to 220 Peniel Church Road in Palatka, FL in reference to an active warrant investigation generated by a request from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Once inside the home, deputies found two 1-year-old twin boys; and they were both tied up.
One child was face down with his hands tied behind his back and the other was on his back with his legs tied. Both children had numerous bruises.
A two year old boy was also found in the residence but was not bound. ~ PSCO
Emergency Medical Services was summoned to check on the condition of the children and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives responded to assume the lead in the ensuing investigation. After the initial medical evaluation one of the one year old twins was admitted to the Putnam County Medical Center for further observation. All three children have been placed into the custody and care of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Michael Anthony Turner and Kaitlynn Paige Turner, who are the biological parents of all three children, are each currently being held with a total bond of $15,016.00 each.
