Police: Dead body found on beach in Miller Place

Homicide detectives are investigating Wednesday evening in Miller Place after police found a dead body on the beach near a local surf club, authorities said.

A Suffolk County police spokesman said the lifeless body was discovered Wednesday afternoon on a beach near Harbor Beach Road in Miller Place. The age and gender of the victim were not immediately released.

Police officers were on scene with homicide investigators, crime scene units and the medical examiner. It was not immediately clear if any foul play was suspected in the death.

Police said they are continuing to investigate. No other information was released.
