A Brentwood father is facing felony drunken driving charges after cops said he was drunk behind the wheel when he crashed into a parked car Wednesday afternoon and they say he had his young daughter with him, according to an April 9 news release.

Jose Umanzor, 34, was arrested under Leandra’s Law for aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger. He also faces an additional charge of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

According to investigators, Umanzor was behind the wheel of a 2001 Honda Civic in the parking lot of a business at 801 Crooked Hill Road around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when he allegedly tried to make a U-turn, but backed into a parked car that was unoccupied.

Police said Umanzor and his 4-year-old daughter were in the vehicle at the time, but neither sustained any injuries.

Third Squad detectives were called to the scene and arrested Umanzor. His young daughter was released to a family member.

Police say Umanzor will be held overnight and face a judge Thursday for arraignment.
