Police baffled by early morning homicide

San Jose police are seeking both a suspect and a motive in the early morning shooting death of 24-year-old Hector Manuel Garcia in the 400 block of Nerdy Avenue in San Jose.

A 911 call this morning about a person having been shot outside of a house alerted police to the residential area in South San Jose. First responders arrived on scene at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday to find Garcia suffering from multple gunshot wounds. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to investigators, the motive and circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. No arrests have been made and it has not been determined whether or not the killing was gang-related.

Garcia's death is the 24th homicide in San Jose this year.
