Police arrest man for shooting East Village teen

A 21-year-old man was arrested for shooting 18-year-old Deontay Moore in the East Village at the end of July, the New York City Police Department announced on Monday morning.

Allah Dajon, 21, of the Vladeck Houses, shot Moore, of the Jacob Riis Houses, in the back of the head on July 20 at 10:47 a.m. on 118th Avenue D on the Lower East Side, said NYPD spokesperson Detective Marc Nell. Moore was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital. Dajon is currently being charged with second degree murder.

The shooting death is believed to have been caused by an argument over a bicycle, Gothamist reported. A tip led to interviews with witnesses who identified Dajon as the gunman.

Moore started studying for the GED after dropping out from Murry Bergtraum High School after the 10th grade, DNAinfo reported in July.
