Police: Amityville HS student arrested for bomb threat

A 17-year-old student at Amityville High School was arrested Monday after she allegedly left a note inside the school threatening to blow up the building, Suffolk County police said.

According to police, school administrators at Amityville High School contacted the Village of Amityville Police Department around 8:50 a.m., after a written note threatening a bomb was found in a stairwell. Amityville police and Suffolk First Squad detectives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. The detectives subsequently learned the identity of the student who allegedly wrote the threatening note.

The female student, who police said is from North Amityville, was arrested at the school this morning. Police did not release her identity in a Monday news release.

She was charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.

Representatives from the Amityville School District could not be reached Monday night for comment.
