Polar vortex strikes again

The polar vortex is bulging far down into the United States. bringing a mass of sub zero Arctic air temperatures into the Great Lakes region and forcing record low temperatures and freezing air into many southern States including Texas and northern Florida, as well. While current temperatures are as low as -19 degrees in Minneapolis and -18 degrees just north of Chicago, down south in San Antonio and Houston, Texas, freezing surface temperatures are reported as low as 31 degrees. Frigid temperatures are considered dangerous in many parts of the U.S. this evening. Freezing temperatures are expected to continue for the next several days and not climbing substantially until later on in the week.
