Pokket Mini DJ Mixer is for music aficionados

Mixers aren't just equipment for DJs any longer. They are for iPhones, iPads, and other smartphones and tablets.

Pokket GmbH, a German-based company has created a portable mixed that wannabe DJs and music enthusiasts can take with them wherever they go.

See if you can picture this. The Pokket Mixer is a small DJ mixer, maybe about the size of a smartphone that you can connect any of your devices that play mp3s or audio files to.

You can connect a laptop, iPhone, iPod, or tablet and more. By using the headset output on your device, you can now call yourself a "DJ."

After using this Pokket Mixer, I have to say it's fun!

Included are two short audio cables for connecting your devices with headphones outputs to it. You’ll need to connect your devices to it now.

On the Pokket, each channel has settings like hi, mid and lo EQs, and there also is a master volume control that is pretty sensitive. I like that.

I'm impressed by the number of controls and variable on the mixer. I was glad to see an EQ sensitivity button, a PFL select option and a volume control right in front of you for your headphones.

The Pokket Mixer is made of good quality metal and the knobs are very secure and flush.

After putting the Pokket Mixer through its paces, I found it great for amateur beatmaking and altering music. It's perfect for young DJs and music fans that are creative and want to experiment a little without outlaying a ton of money.

It retails for abut $99, but I see it online for a little cheaper than that.

A great Valentine's gift for this time of the year, and I could see a music fan having fun with this for years to come.
