Fans of Saint Louis' folk music superstar can rest easy. Pokey LaFarge isn't content to rest on his laurels and he's not holed up in the studio, either. In fact, he'll soon be hitting the road and coming to a number of concert halls and festivals across the country – and the world.

According to LaFarge's May newsletter, available through his official website, Missouri's favorite 1920's-styling musician has just returned with his band from an “epic trip” to various European countries. Now that LaFarge is back in the United States, he's already gearing up for a summer tour that will get fans as fired up as he is.

But it's technically still spring, so let us push his oncoming summer tour bonanza off to the side. What is really in the spotlight is that Pokey LaFarge will be performing in a variety of quickly upcoming events before too long.

As reported earlier, LaFarge will be performing at the Riverfront Times' yearly Music Showcase, which strives to highlight local music acts across Saint Louis as well as big national names. LaFarge and his band will be at the Ready Room on June 7. The next day finds them in Kirkwood at the Frank Lloyd Wright house, and the week after that? Performing on “A Prairie Home Companion”, the radio show that will be broadcasting live from the Fox Theatre on June 14.

But don't think for a second that Missouri has stolen all of LaFarge's attention. Other dates have him leaving the Gateway to the West for more distant pastures.

Newport, Rhode Island is Ground Zero for the Newport Folk Festival in late July, and this year Pokey LaFarge will be joining a luminous line-up of performers, such as Ryan Adams, Benjamin Booker and Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley fame. Problem is, if you don't have tickets yet, you probably never will outside of scalpers and eBay – tickets for this year's Newport Folk Festival are sold out. The LaFarge and folk love must lie deep in Rhode Island.

There are many other shows Pokey LaFarge will be performing at in these upcoming months, in places such as Chattanooga and Canada. For a complete list of event dates and locations, see the LaFarge May newsletter or read the official band Twitter account for further updated information.
