The Rational Group, parent company of PokerStars, has been named one of the best places to work in the United Kingdom for the third consecutive year. On Wednesday, the Great Place to Work Institute announced its annual Best Workplaces list for UK companies, and the Rational Group came in at 14th place.
The rankings were determined by an employee survey conducted by the Institute. Aside from PokerStars, the Rational Group also operates Full Tilt Poker and is headquartered in the Isle of Man.
Earlier this year, the company's offices in Ireland and Costa Rica were also named in the Best Workplaces list in those countries.
"Once again, we are the only company in our industry to receive this accolade, which speaks volumes for our desire to lead from the front," said CFO Michael Hazel in a press statement. "We are working hard to embrace the principles of what makes a great workplace and will never stop listening to our people and acting on their feedback."
Large companies named in the top 10 of the Best Workplaces list include Capital One, Softcat, Admiral Group, Microsoft, eBay. Rackspace, Hyatt, Pentland Brands, Diageo, and McDonald's.
The Great Place to Work Institute surveys nearly 6,000 organizations around the world, which represents nearly 10 million employees.
"This year a record 100 organisations have been recognised as Best Workplaces," according to a statement on the Institute's website. "Best Workplace Master Admiral tops the list of 30 organisations in the Large Category, demonstrating their strong track record in sustaining high levels of trust and engagement."
The Institute received high marks from PokerStars' offices in London and nearby Isle of Man.
The survey included insights and perceptions from employees and management on PokerStars' HR policies and practices.
The Rational Group operates the largest online poker rooms in the world. It also manages live tournaments in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia. PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker have a combined 90 million registered players.
"The list also sees organisations such as Virgin Media, Wyndham Worldwide and Hyatt who have achieved Best Workplace status in their first year of taking part in the Programme," according to the Institute. "The IT sector continues to be well represented demonstrating its recognition of the importance of creating and maintaining a good workplace culture that attracts and retains the best talent."
