"Poker champ arrested" headlines are cropping up on the Internet today. Greg "FossilMan" Raymer was busted in North Carolina Wednesday for allegedly soliciting in an online prostitution sting, according to a March 15 TMZ story. However, the World Series of Poker champion is out on bail.
The popular poker player was among six men busted after showing up to a Wake Forest hotel after answering a fake call-girl site. Instead of meeting their madams, Raymer and others walked into the hands of undercover police officers.
The poker champ was arrested and booked on soliciting prostitution and "attempted crimes against nature." However, a short time later, he posted bond for $1,000.
Greg Raymer became an instant hit when he won the WSOP in 2004. What made him an even larger-than-life celebrity (no pun intended) is his hologram glasses.
"FossilMan" was no one-hit wonder; he went on to win several other cash prizes in poker.
Obviously, with the poker champ arrested on allegations of soliciting prostitution, it causes a stir among avid fans of the card game.
Note: Police denied rumors of Raymer being involved in an alleged male sex sting. However, the impact of his arrest is no less shocking.
