Pokemon has become a timeless franchise. Yet another preverbal notch in Nintendo's belt, the series all but guarantees success upon every new installment in the series. With that being said, it wasn't a matter of if Pokemon X & Y would be successful post release earlier this week, just a matter of how successful.
Well, it looks like the Nintendo money printing juggernaut has struck again, as Pokemon X & Y have gone to sell over 4 million units in less than 4 days; the fastest selling 3DS title to date. The news comes from an official Nintendo press release:
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y would be the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time and are tracking ahead of the last Pokémon RPG titles, Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, by more than 70 percent.
There isn't much to say here; Nintendo knows what they are doing when it comes to key franchises and the success is a direct representation of that. With this and the recent news of Monster Hunter 4 selling over 3 million units in Japan alone it would seem Nintendo's 3DS has all but proven any negativity critics had of the hand held and it's sales potential all but a short year ago false.
