'Pokemon X and Y' receives starter infographic, art and details on Legendaries (Photos)

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company International shared the first official artwork and screenshots of the "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" starter Pokémon for the Nintendo 3DS on Monday. New details were also released on the two Legendary Pokémon, Xerneas and Yveltal.

The three starter Pokémon for "Pokémon X and Y" are Grass-type Chespin, Fire-type Fennekin, and Water-type Froakie. As the infographic in the slideshow at the top of this article helpfully reminds, these different type Pokémon have their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, Fennekin (as a Fire-type) is strong against the Grass-type Chespin but would struggle against the Water-type Froakie. Chespin (as a Grass-type) could stand up to the Water-type Froakie, but not the Fire-type Fennekin.

The Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal also received some stats on their height and size. The tale of the tape for Xerneas is a Pokémon that measures Pokémon that is 9 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 474.0 lbs. Meanwhile, Yveltal comes in at 19 feet and 447.5 lbs.

The powers of both Legendaries have not been revealed yet but there is some speculation that Xerneas will have Light powers and Yveltal will have sound powers.

"Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" will be released simultaneously worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS in October 2013.
