'Pokemon X and Y' brings back Mewtwo in a new form (Photos)

A new character for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the Nintendo 3DS was revealed during an episode of Pokemon Smash in Japan Saturday night and its actually a returning old favorite - Mewtwo. However, it is back in a mysterious new form.

"This new Pokémon shares many traits with Mewtwo and it’s suspected that the newly discovered Pokémon has a connection with Mewtwo—a powerful Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue," a press release that we received from the Pokémon Company stated.

Video of this new Mewtwo in action showed it using moves that have been used in the past such as such as Psywave, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, and Blizzard. This likely isn't a new Pokemon but is instead a new, more powerful form for Mewtwo.

You can check out a video of the new Mewtwo in our video gallery.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are currently scheduled to be released this October for the Nintendo 3DS.
