Nintendo has announced some details for the 2014 World Cup distribution event in "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y." According to a report from Kpop Starz on June 2, the company is giving away the assistant director version of Pikachu, which is based on the pocket monster's appearance in the "Pokemon Get" television show. To download the special character, fans have to visit the Aeon malls located in various regions throughout Japan.
The distribution event for "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" is going to begin in several weeks on June 15. The assistant director version of Pikachu comes equipped with the "Mega Kick" maneuver to celebrate the upcoming soccer tournament. A similar event has not yet been announced for the European and North American regions.
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Helioptile, Litleo, Meowth, Pancham, Squirtle as well as the aforementioned Pikachu have been revealed to be the official Japanese mascots for the 2014 World Cup, which begins on June 12. All 11 pocket monsters was previously shown wearing soccer jerseys while huddling up during a soccer match. The inclusions of these characters show the massive popularity of the franchise, especially in Japan.
Pikachu debuted with "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue." Although it is not a starter pocket monster in the original games, the creature gained a lot of popularity from the animated television show. Eventually, Nintendo released a "Pokemon Yellow" game for the popular mascot, who has appeared in other games from the company such as the "Super Smash Bros" series.
"Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" introduced dozens of new pocket monsters along with returning favorites such as Pikachu. Nintendo recently announced plans for two more games for the mainline series with the upcoming releases of "Pokemon Alpha Sapphire" and "Pokemon Omega Ruby."
