Curbing against the traditional videogame drought associated with summer, Nintendo has announced their European release date for the upcoming 3DS title, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity.
The title is set to release on May 17th, 2013 to European 3DS owners. This will be the last region to receive Pokemon’s latest dungeon crawler with Japan already having the game and North America getting the game on March 24th, 2013.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will feature randomly-generated set pieces for characters to battle in, 3D models, and the ability for 3DS users to use their console’s camera to create Magnagates from objects in the real world.
Nintendo had this to say on Magnagates, and how they will work with the game.
“Players can discover Mystery Dungeons accessible only through Magnagates, mysterious portals activated when the Nintendo 3DS system’s cameras are used to scan round objects in the real world, such as footballs or clock faces. Once a Magnagate is discovered, the player becomes a different Pokémon to step through it and tackle the Mystery Dungeon that lies beyond. Items and money that players receive through successfully completing a dungeon revealed by a Magnagate can be used in the main adventure, too.”
Nice to see Nintendo taking advantage of the augmented reality capabilities of their platforms, hopefully it makes for a good game.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is set to release in North America on March 24th, 2013 and in Europe on May 17th, 2013.
