Nintendo’s Pokémon series has continually introduced dozens, if not hundreds, of new Pokémon in each new entry for gamers to catch. On Oct. 5, new information about Pokémon X and Pokémon Y surfaced via NeoGAF providing new details on how many new pocket monsters players can expect to be introduced to in the newest title.
Compiled through all the confirmed leaks, it would appear that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y has the lowest figure of new Pokémon since Generation 2 – which featured 100 new Pokémon. It is being reported that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y features between 67-to-69 new Pokémon – less than half of what was introduced in Generation 5 with Pokémon Black and Pokémon White.
Even with a lack of new Pokémon for people to catch, the game introduces new game mechanics like Mega Evolution and wireless functionality thanks to the 3DS StreetPass and SpotPass capabilities. Likewise, Pokémon X/Y is the first 3D Pokémon title and that is something for fans to be excited about. Plus, fan favorite Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle return.
