With the release of Pokémon X and Y on a fast approach, I thought it might be a good idea if I start covering Pokémon in depth. There are at current over 640 of them, so I feel that getting started right away might be a good idea.
001 – Bulbasaur, 002 – Ivysaur, 003 - Venusaur
This is a small plant Pokémon, most famous for being a starter Pokémon in Red, Blue and Green. He was also a starter in Fire Red and Leaf Green. He was available as an event Pokémon in Yellow, and has been an event Pokémon 5 times, with 2 of those times being in the United States. He is small and green with dark green spots on him. He’s got a small bulb on his back.
Initially, when I first saw this little Pokémon, I thought he looked kind of cool, and this was back around 1998 or so, when he was still new to America. This was well before he became well known for being one of Pikachu’s friends in the Anime.
As stated before, Bulbasaur is a plant type Pokémon and as he evolves he becomes Ivysaur then Venusaur, growing and having the bulb on his back open, and a tree grow from it. Its strongest attack is Solarbeam, and when used with a sleep powder combo with growth, this Pokémon can pack quite a wallop in the game.
Bulbasaur can learn some kick butt egg moves as well, when bred with Tangela, like the move Power Whip. This move shouldn’t be underestimated, as it’s one of the strongest in the games.
Well that’s it for the first 3…. Another 646 to cover yet, then I can get into the x and y Pokémon. I’ll be covering the complete evolution chain with each one. But for now, good luck and god speed gamers.
