February 3, 2013 Valley Poets East met for the 5th meeting with the theme “Motel Erotica” featuring resident raconteur Mel Green and poets JR Phillips, Apryl Skies with special musical guest Jacque Babb “BedeDonia”.
Mel Green entertained the crowd with dramatic repose while the music Jacque Babb brought to the event was a thing of angels. JR Phillips as host and reader, as always was a generous presence reading a few poems from his collection “Erotica” and enlightening the audience with a translation piece inspired by the dance of Salome.
The poetry read by the talented open mic readers and features for Motel Erotica were of a wide spectrum, from love poems to panties to spirited performances by Armond Kinard and Terra Marine. Marine, who will be returning as featured artist April 7th along with comedy diva Camille Solari & the wonderfully talented poetess Jessica Caballos.
This Sunday, March 3rd at 2 p.m. VPE returns to celebrate Amazon’s #1 men’s anthology, Men in the Company of Women: An Anthology of Praise & Persuasion with a book launch & signing. On display will be the beautiful cover art of Carlos Scalise which graces the cover.
