Marty Piombo was one of the most memorable players from what was arguably one of the least memorable seasons of "Survivor." He appeared on the show's 21st season, "Survivor: Nicaragua," which featured famous former NFL coach and personality Jimmy Johnson and two quitters, who shall remain nameless. I recently spoke with the former player.
With tomorrow marking the premiere of "Survivor: Caramoan," the 26th season and the second incarnation of the "Fans vs. Favorites" model, we will get to see another contestant from Marty's season compete, Brenda Lowe, who seemed to have everything going for her except an overall awareness of her status in the game. To the surprise of many (including mine), Marty Piombo was not chosen to return as part of this new cast, even though he definitely fits the bill as a player that deserves another run at the game.
I spoke with Marty recently to discuss what he's been up to since his time in the game, and if he would ever play again. We also discussed his thoughts on Brenda as well as the other returning players this season. Then, on a personal note (since I'm getting married this April), I asked Marty for some words of wisdom as I prepare to take the plunge.
