Poag Mahones reopens

Poag Mahones reopened in December at its new location, the old Bronx Zoo. It has been open for just over a month, and the new Poag Mahones looks nothing like the previous tenant, and that's a good thing!

It has been completely renovated, and the owners did a fantastic job. There is authentic Irish decor throughout the bar, and this is the place for you if you're a gamer. They have two pool tables, two Golden Tee games and several dartboards. The bar is packed with 8 HDTVs and an internet jukebox.

Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; wells and domestics are $2. All drinks are discounted from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Specialty beers on tap include:

Paulaner Hefeweizen
Newcastle
Shiner Bock
Guinness
Harp
Smithwicks
Blue Moon
Bass
Stella Artois
Firemans 4
Fat Tire

And of course they have Bud Light, Miller Light and Coors Light on tap. They also have quite a large bottled beer selection.

If you are a fan of shots, there are chilled Jager and Tuaca machines are on each side of the bar.

Poag Mahones does not serve food, but they do have pretzels and nuts available for the occasional patron in need.

Poag Mahones operates regular bar hours most days, but they do not open until six on Sundays so don't make game day plans here.
