The Buddhist community here in Syracuse finds time to pray daily for the well being of the Tibetan people. Provocation from China often causes great distress among Buddhists here. And even though Buddhism teaches nonviolence tempers among Buddhists here in Syracuse often become unusually heated regarding reports of human rights violations in Tibet by China.
And so in order to help avoid losing touch with their peaceful mission in life Buddhists here always appreciate encouragement to remain nonviolent. Therefore Buddhists here in Syracuse appreciate recent advice by Tibetan Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche to remain nonviolent. Phayul.com has written "Tibetan PM calls for non violent response to China’s provocation", http://bit.ly/fwuc1i. PM Rinpoche has said "There is nothing new, the position of China against the Dalai Lama is always the same."
China has said that the Dalai Lama's clique must be stopped and that for the good of Tibet the Dalai Lama must be crushed. PM Rinpoche has commented this is all just a repetition statements of Chinese leaders against the Dalai Lama who although Tibet's spiritual leader and a Nobel Peace Prize winner is still considered a dangerous terrorist instigator of unrest by China. PM Rinpoche feels the negative statements by China about the Dalai Lama reflect the insecurity of the Chinese leaders towards the growing status of the Dalai Lama in global society and among Tibetans in spite of Beijing's decades long campaign to denigrate and diminish his influence. PM Rinpoche has also said "Chinese leaders are afraid of the peace movements of the Dalai Lama around the world. Moreover, the protests in Arab countries are causing anxiety among the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), so such comments are ridiculous, devoid of value and importance."
PM Rinpoche is certain the Communist Chinese are trying to provoke Tibetans. But he feels the younger Tibetan generations are mature and wise and he does not think they will react to provocation. PM Rinpoche feels it will take a long time for large demonstrations in China because the force of repression would undermine any strong protest and not allow people to meet. He feels the Communist Chinese do not respect human life and will not hesitate to use force, power and brutality in order to prevent protests and to crush any demonstration and uprising. And so the Syracuse Buddhist community will continue to pray for the well being of the Tibetans without resorting to violence in dealing with this issue.
