Curvy, sexy, voluptuous women are words than can describe women wearing sizes 10 and up. These women are considered plus size. In today's world, more and more woman can be classified as part of this group. With such a demand for plus size clothing, comes a great selection of clothes, silhouettes, colors, websites, and stores to meet such needs. A plus size woman usually has a rounder mid section, a larger chest, and an overall curvy fuller shape. There are many ways to enhance this woman's body, rather than to try to hide it.
A plus size woman should embrace color and not shy away from it. Black and other dark colors can be slimming, but color, especially the "in" colors of the season, can bring an outfit to life and make it more modern. Have fun and play with patterns. Patterns don't have to be intimidating. Simply allow the colors and shape of the garment to guide you. Throughout fashion history, plus size clothing had been made out to look matronly and dull. Today, plus size designers have created garments and accessories with the same amount of creativity and importance as any ready-to-wear line for sizes 0-8.
To begin, plus size tops with embellishments, frills, ruffles, etc...can really be flattering while bringing attention to the upper body. Rounded or V-necklines can really enhance great collar bones and the chest. Many plus size tops and dresses are cut on the bias, therefore falling and hugging the body quite beautifully. Also, gathering around the waist can really cinch it and make the waist appear smaller. A great compliment to this can be wide belts that can also complete a look. Dresses and skirts should always fit proportioned to your body and height. If your shorter, then don't be afraid to show your legs. A taller woman can get away with skirts hitting right below or right above the knee without risking looking shorter. Skirts should be semi-fitted to hug the curves, not smother them, but never too full to make the body appear larger. Say goodbye to mommy jeans or ill fitting pants. Today, we have skinny jeans, flared jeans, distressed jeans, and even jeggings which can all be worn by plus size women. Dark denim is a curvy woman's dream!
Some websites that carry great selections of plus size clothing are www.torrid.com (For young, sexy, trendy clothes), www.kiyonna.com (For unique, fun, and very wearable looks), and www.onestopplus.com (For a website that carries many different designers and links to other plus size clothing websites). Don't forget to check your favorite store or designer's website for plus size options.
Remember that the most important thing about clothes and fashion, is to feel comfortable, beautiful, and confident in what you wear. Pick your best asset and showcase it! Be proud of your body and know that no matter your shape, size, or color, there is fashion out there for you to discover.
