This is the fifth year that Ghost Town, a haunted attraction, has inhabited the main hall of Aquarium Mall in the heart of Provincetown, scaring eager participants with elaborate sets, animatronics and the living dead around every dark corner. But that doesn't mean you won’t get some laughs as well. After all, having the wits scared out of you can be a riot for you and your compatriots who brave the winding course of rooms and of course…the graveyard. Revelers often come out of the attraction applauding, laughing and murmuring, “That was really good!” as they gasp for air!
Ghost Town is the brain-child of David Flower and his David Flower Productions - an award-winning production company producing quality events since 2001. Besides Ghost Town, DFP has produced promotions for major record labels, large scale parties and fundraisers for cultural institutions.
As David mentioned, “Halloween in Provincetown has always been a high holiday and something many folks in town look forward to. I wanted to add to the festivities by putting up an attraction that would appeal to everyone. Ghost Town is really a horror art installation with actors and animatronics telling a story.”
With any haunted house or attraction there is a back-story. For Ghost Town, it begins with a foggy night and the pirate Captain and crew of the Red Dawn who pillaged and plundered the town on October 31, 1736 leaving it in ruins and the townsfolk all dead. Today, the locals say that the spirits of the townspeople come back each year around Halloween to exact their revenge and take back Provincetown.
So if you’re in the Provincetown area this weekend, don’t miss out on the fun and fright! As the website describes, “Prepare yourself for a frightful journey through condemned buildings, pirate ruins and scary grave-sites as you encounter terrifying creatures of the living dead.”
The haunted attraction is open nightly from 7:00pm – 11:00pm, Wednesday through Saturday, October 30th through November 2nd this year. Visit the website for more information and to purchase tickets in advance. http://www.ptownhalloween.com/
