Plenty of rain and some severe weather to come

Synopsis,
Late tonight and especially tomorrow afternoon showers and thunderstorms will move NE and bring a small threat for severe weather as these storms will be weakening into a more stable air mass over our region. However a much larger threat for severe storms looks likely late Monday night and Tuesday as there could be damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain with a few of the storms. How much instability and timing will all be key factors in type and strength of severe storms during this time period. Either outcome heavy rainfall looks likely with 1 to 3 inches of rainfall over the next few days. Following the storms a a cold front will move through by Wednesday bringing cooler air. The low will become cut off from the jet stream and linger with spokes of energy rotating around it there will be several chances for rain showers all the way through the first weekend of May.

Long range:
More active weather looks likely to follow the following week with chances for showers and storms.
