Now that we’ve reached September, it’s show us whatcha got time at Pine View Golf Course.
Several in-house tournaments are either under way or soon to happen at the 36-hole facility that is located at 1471 Blair Rd.
First on the tee is the course’s match-play competition, which is getting closer to a final showdown after Dave Telewiak ended Ben Patenaude’s drive toward the title in late August when he downed the big-hitting righty by a 4 and 2 margin.
Telewiak, a lefty who smoked pinpoint shots off the tees and into the greens, and who switches to putting from the right side while stroking the ball with a cross-handed grip, blasted out of the gate to a five-up lead through eight holes.
Patenaude managed to get squared away somewhat as he shaved Telewiak’s edge to four-up through nine and was down by three holes on 16 when Telewiak closed him out by making par as Patenaude posted a bogey on the par 3.
Telewiak’s next opponent in the semi-final will be Brian Neill after Neill bounced Antoine Sauve 8 and 7. On the other side of the bracket, Jim Clow defeated Jason Paquette 3 and 2. He awaits the results of the matches between Larry Vice and Glen Costello and that winner’s tilt with Don Costello.
Meanwhile, Pine View’s Fall Classic takes centre stage on Sept. 13-14. Teams of two will play best ball on day one and alternate shot on day two.
On Sept. 19-20, Pine View’s Club Championships for divisions A, B, C and Senior are scheduled. Competitors will go with a stoke format on the venue’s par 64, 3,913 yard Executive Course on day one before closing the tournament of the par 71, 6,721 yard Championship Course on day two.
On Sept. 22, the course hosts a Customer Appreciation event that features teams of four playing a scramble format.
And Pine View’s Wednesday and Thursday Senior Leagues bring down the curtain on their season on Sept. 24 when the members take on the Executive track and follow the competition with a banquet.
