Pledge to Go Veg Week 2013: Free sign up, starter pack, coupons, prizes and more (Photos)

Pledge to Go Veg Week in the United States asks Americans to give up meat for one week to highlight not only the plight of animals, but the health and environmental benefits of eating a vegetarian or vegan diet.

On April 5 US Veg Week posted that VegPledger Greg had won a prize in the US VegWeek contest for recruiting the most participants for Pledge To Go Veg Week 2013. You can sign up, create your own custom URL and recruit your friends, family, Twitter and Facebook followers to Pledge To Go Veg for one week, too.

Pledge to Go Veg Week begins on April 22, Earth Day, and goes through April 28. If you have not signed up for the Pledge To Go Veg 7-Day Challenge yet, click here to register and participate.

Going meatless or even vegan for an entire week can help you discover new, delicious, healthier and in some cases easier recipes. Even if you are not yet a very experienced cook, Pledge To Veg Week will help you with your cooking skills.

When you sign up for the US Pledge To Go Veg Week challenge by April 12 you will receive a free Vegetarian Starter Guide that includes recipes and product coupons. You can follow US Pledge To Go Veg on Facebook and Twitter and get updates and encouragement during the challenge. You can also choose to receive recipes via email during Pledge To Go Veg.

There is no obligation to continue a vegetarian or vegan diet past Pledge To Go Veg Week. The 7-Day VegChallenge simply wants to highlight not only the plight of animals, but the impact of eating less meat on the Earth’s climate, the environment, world hunger and the overall benefits of eating either a plant-based or plant-centered diet rather than a meat-centered one.
