St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Pleasantville, Iowa will be holding a fundraiser in the church's Family Life Center on Saturday, March 8 to raise money for Imagine No Malaria Iowa. The charity, affiliated with the United Methodist Church's Iowa Annual Conference, has a goal to raise $2 million statewide to help eradicate malaria in Africa. The preventable and treatable disease is ravaging the continent, causing one death every sixty seconds.
The Pleasantville United Methodist Church's fundraiser will be a soup supper with live music that will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The bluegrass band Western Connection will provide the music. A free will offering will go toward the charity's efforts.
To date, the charity has raised $1,710,156 toward their goal, which will help save an estimated 171,015 lives. Imagine No Malaria also has a Statewide Pancake Feast planned for April 19 - 27.
