Yet another former Long Island Railroad (LIRR) employee has pleaded guilty in a massive disability fraud case that has rocked the organization for more than a year now.
On Tuesday, former engineering manager Gregory Noone was the 13th person to plead guilty in the federal case.
32 doctors, LIRR retirees, and other have been charged in the past two years with making hundreds of fraudulent claims that the government said has cost the federal Railroad Retirement Board as much as $1 billion.
Noone, of Islip, pleaded guilty to six counts of conspiracy, fraud, and false claims. He faces up to 80 years in prison. He also has agreed to pay back around $65,000.
Noone was accused of collecting disability payments, despite the fact that he played tennis and golf several times each week. He collected nearly $100,000 in pension and disability payments.
