Sony is set to make an announcement about the PlayStation Vita tonight, Feb. 17, 2013 at around 2AM Central Time. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano will present the pre-recorded stream which will share the future plans for the PlayStation Vita. The presentation can be viewed on Ustream, but will be broadcast only in Japanese.
The PlayStation Vita has been struggling ever since it was released in 2012. Many agree that the system itself is a technically sound, solid system, but its lack of quality games has really hurt it. Something needs to be done to make the Vita turn a profit.
This announcement is similar in nature to Nintendo’s “Nintendo Direct” broadcasts, but this is a first of its kind for Sony. They’re making a big announcement on Wednesday, and have been releasing videos that celebrate the history of PlayStation, but no one expected the announcement today.
Check back for more updates as they become available.
