Playstation Store hits the web with release of SEN Online Store

Playstation 3 and PS Vita owners will no longer only have the option of buying games, DLC and other content through their console's Playstation Store. Sony launched the Sony Entertainment Network Online Store Thursday for the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

Now PS3 and PS Vita users can purchase games, add-ons, movies and TV shows from the web via the SEN Store. There are various filter and sorting option to make content easier to find than using the Playstation Store. Items purchased will immediately be added to their "My Downloads" section on their console. Users will have to kick off the download from there after logging into the PS3 or PS Vita.

Future updates to the store will include a more advanced recommendation feature, automatic download of content to a console when purchased and support for smartphones and tablets.

The SEN Online Store first launched in Europe last December.
