Playstation Plus battle: UK takes on USA, week of January 30

It's time for the weekly comparision between UK and US PS+ deals. This week we'll start by examining the US deals, then move on to UK and decide the winner.

First up is the free game for PS+ users. Those of you who have a Vita may be happy to know that you will be getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus completely free of charge. Essentially a port of a port (the original was released on Xbox (ok, that's not technically true. The original Ninja Gaiden was released in Arcades back in 1988), and Sigma is the PS3 port of the game.), it follows the story of Ryu Hayabusa as he battles the Black Spider Ninja Clan in order to save his village. Ryu had successfully infiltrated the Shadow Clan's fortress in order to visit his uncle, and soon finds out that Hayabusa Village is being attacked. Ryu races back, and is cut down by Doku, who had stolen the Dark Dragon Blade. The Hayabusa's spiritual animal, a falcon, has other plans for Ryu, however, and he is revived as a soldier of revenge. Will he be able to avenge the fallen clan? Or will he be cut down yet again?

The US also gets a new timed trial for Air Conflicts: Secret Wars. Last up, five new games go on sale. Greed Corp (original:.$9.99, sale: $4.99, PS+: $2.50), Gatling Gears (original: $9.99, sale: $4.99, PS+: $2.50), Section 8: Prejudice (original: $14.99, sale: $9.99, PS+: $5.00), Madden NFL 13, PS3 version (original: $59.99, sale: $41.99, PS+: $29.39), and the PS Vita version of Madden NFL 13 (original: $39.99, sale: $27.99, PS+: $19.59).

According to the UK Playstation Store update released today, the PS+ deals they get amount to... nothing. That's right, shockingly enough, there are no PS+ deals listed in the official UK update. Does this mean they plan on doubling up the content next week? Or will they be releasing it at a different time than normal? Only time will tell.

Overall, the clear winner this week would be the US. But that isn't saying much, considering they had literally nothing to contend with. What will the UK bring in the first week of February? And will it be enough to dethrone the US? Come on back next week to find out!
