Gamers are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the next-gen Playstation and Xbox console from Sony and Microsoft. A Sony vice president provided a clue on when we should expect to see the Playstation 4 unveiled in an interview released on Saturday.
Sony Home Entertainment Vice President Hioroshi Sakamoto was being interviewed by Chile new site El Mercurios On-Line when he was asked is we are going to see a new Playstation announcement in the next few months.
"It's still a big secret, but our Sony PlayStation friends are getting ready," Sakamoto replied. "I only can say that we're focused on the games related E3 event, booked for June. The announcement can take place there or even before, in May."
El Mercurios followed up by asking if the PS4 was going to be announced in a "big reveal or something complimentary."
"Probably the first, we plan to release big news for this date, but we have to wait at least until May," Sakamoto said.
Based on this interview, it sounds like Sony may be planning a big announcement for the PS4 towards the end of May just before the start of E3 on June 11. The company will be able to put all the focus and attention on its hardware leading into the biggest gaming convention in North America. Of course, Microsoft could do the same too.
