Is this Groundhog Day? Not exactly. The 2009 short film Over and Over Qualified will entertain you. Director Francis Abbey brings a unique look to Mark who has lost everything. A visit from Mark’s friend Tina almost drives Mark to insanity.

Actor John Tweel portrayal of Mark Shapiro is what you expect from someone who has lost a home, wife and job. His irritated facial expressions when dealing with the perky Tina are very funny. Actress Jenna St. John is hilarious as the over zealous / perky co-worker of Mark. You are able to see that Tina looks at Mark as a role model when she refers to him as “the Shapironator”.

Actress Jenna St. John co-wrote and produced this short film with director Francis Abbey. Their collaboration is a joy to watch. The classic line in the film is when Mark says “This is life déjà vu all over again”. Over and Over Qualified was part of the 2009 National Film Challenge. The short film is playing at the RIFFE this week.
