It’s the winner of eight Tony Awards that includes Best Musical, named best musical by the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards as well as garnering a 2013 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album. The show is called “Once” and it is coming to PlayhouseSquare for a limited two week engagement of November 12 through 24, 2013. Tickets are on sale now at playhousesquare.org.
The show features the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová with book by award-winning Irish playwright & screenwriter, Enda Walsh. It is directed by John Tiffany, with movement by Steven Hoggett with music supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe. Set and costume design are by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Clive Goodwin.
“Once” is the new stage musical based on the Academy Award-winning film that tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant who come together because of their love of music. In just seven days they go from friendship to romance fueled by the emotion of the songs they create. The production is brought to Cleveland with award-winning artists with an ensemble cast of extrodinary actors and musicians.
