He’s an award winning comedian, author of a best-selling book and film maker. We are talking about Mike Birbiglia who will be making a return appearance to the PlayhouseSquare’s Palace Theatre’s stage on Saturday, September 13 for one 7:30 p.m. show.

In his wonderfully funny “Thank God For Jokes Tour”, Birbiglia dishes up his painfully awkward stories that we can all relate to as he reveals how jokes can get you into big trouble such as being attacked by zombie rodents, getting busted in New Jersey, setting a famous director off on a screaming fit of anger as well as being heckled by Statler and Waldorf.

Ira Glass of public radio's “This American Life” writes, "Birbiglia's stories are even funnier live than they are on the radio."Time Magazine calls Birbiglia a "master of the personal, embarrassing tale," while The New York Times describes him as a "supremely enjoyable monologist."

As an author, Birbiglia is best known for his bestseller “Sleepwalk With Me and Other Painfully True Stories” that was made into the film “Sleepwalk With Me” which he co-wrote and directed. The movie was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews.

Included in Mike’s comedy routine are reflections on his marital state as well as comic observations coupled with self-depreciating humor…“I decided to go to a club the other night because my self-esteem level was ranking about normal, and I really wanted to get it down to the 1000 negative level!”

Tickets for Mike Birbiglia’s Saturday September 13 PlayhouseSquare comedy concert are $46.50 and are on sale now by going to PlayhouseSquare.org, by calling (216) 241-6000 or by stopping by the PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office.
