It’s official, the “Discover DaVinci & Michelangelo: Side by Side” original theater performance will be making its inaugural North American Tour stop at PlayhouseSquare’s Ohio Theatre on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $40, $35, $30 and $10 (Smart Seats) and are available online at, by calling (216) 241-6000 or by stopping by the PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office.

“Discover DaVinci & Michelangelo: Side by Side” takes audiences on a fantastic journey back to the Italian Renaissance as we look into the lives of these two geniuses and arch rivals. The show is curated by Mark Rodgers of the DaVinci Machines and Michelangelo Exhibitions from the permanent Museum of Leonardo DaVinci in Florence, Italy.

The evening will be filled with non-stop multi-media performances that feature movies, videos, 3-D animations as well as images of their inventions, machines, sketches, codices, paintings and sculptures. As Rodgers compares and contrasts their lives he will relate them to the world that we live in today as we strive to discover our own “inner” DaVinci and Michelangelo. Rodgers originally came up with the concept of comparing the two while curating the DaVinci and Michelangelo Exhibition in Denver, CO.

“I realized you can’t talk about DaVinci without Michelangelo,” explained Rodgers. “Many people don’t know that they were not only contemporaries but also fierce competitors.”

What began as a tour of only DaVinci has grown as he has incorporated more of Michelangelo into the production. With each tour Rodgers found that people wanted to know more about each man.

“There has never been an exhibit or museum, of which I am aware, that has ever compared or contrasted DaVinci and Michelangelo in the same presentation,” explained Rodgers. “DaVinci and Michelangelo have an outreach and following that everyone can relate to. Everything they said and did relates to our lives today.”

This original theater performance made its major theater debut in April 2014 at the world famous Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, FL
