The State Theatre will be the place to be on November 14, 2013 as The Musical Box returns to perform Genesis’ “Selling England By The Pound” that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original Genesis album by the same name.
The Musical Box is the only tribute band in the world that has acquired the performing rights, access to archives, audio tracks and original slideshow of the “Selling England By The Pound” original Genesis show.
The Musical Box has been restaging Genesis concerts with Peter
Gabriel since 1993 and have recreated such iconic shows as “Foxtrot”, Selling England By the Pound” and “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway”. The mission of The Musical Box is to recapture the thrill and magic of those original concerts and to give people the experience of what it was like to be at the original Genesis shows.
This current production is a reconstruction based on hundreds of photos and slides from the original concerts as well as videos, amateur films, newspaper and magazine articles as well as personal interviews with numerous people who either worked or attended the original Genesis shows between 1972 and 1975. The culmination of this research results in the refabrication of masks, costumes, makeup, accessories, sets, lighting design, special effects, choreography and musical presentation making for an authentic experience by the audience.
