“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” to replace “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber”
New show will star Diana DeGarmo as the narrator and Ace Young as Joseph
on March 4-16, 2014
Following the news that the national tour of “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” has been postponed for a subsequent season, PlayhouseSquare announced that “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be filling the same time slot of March 4 through 16, 2014. The KeyBank Broadway Series package also includes touring productions of “Sleeping Beauty”, “Once”, “Wicked”, “Porgy and Bess”, “Flashdance” and “Jersey Boys”.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome “Joseph” back to our stage,” said Gina Vernaci, Senior Vice President, Theater Operations. “This show is a crowd pleaser that is sure to delight our audiences of all ages, fun for the whole family with its epic story and sing-along score.”
A wildly popular family show, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” tells the story of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son as he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers.
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was the first collaboration of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Cats) and Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King), blending pop, country and rock into an uplifting, technicolor story of biblical proportions. Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door.
“JOSEPH is still the wittiest of Lloyd Webber’s extravaganzas,” declares the Orlando Sentinel.
The Independent Presenters Network is delighted to announce that Broadway and television star Diana DeGarmo and Broadway star Ace Young will head up the cast of the new touring production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. Husband-and-wife team Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo first met when they shared the Broadway stage in the 2009 revival of “HAIR”.
“I am so excited to star as ‘Joseph’ alongside Diana,” said Ace. “It’s great to be back! I too am so excited to star alongside Ace in the very role I once looked up to years ago as a child in the choir,” added Diana.
