I am 25; male; work as a brick layer; and never hit the sack for slumber prior to 11:30 p.m.; I live in the East Village of San Diego so if I wanted a sports bar fairly close by, I’d have to go to the Lucky Bastard Saloon because the owner is a Playboy Playmate who along with her 2 sisters also graced Playboy’s cover back in 1999 (Australia) and she’s keeping with the hot chicks theme whenever possible so the servers wear leather chaps without the ass so the short shorts worn reveal plenty of cheeky visions of loveliness just for my satisfaction.
Owner Nicole Dahm-Kelly does more than count the profits, she does lots of food prep using her recipes for food that is pretty good fare. Lucky Bastard http://www.luckybastardsaloon.com is just across the street from Wyatt Earp’s famous Oyster Bar on Fifth. The actual address for the Lucky Bastard is 840 5th Avenue.
This is a bar with a ton of wall mounted sports windows a.k.a. TVs tuned to sports of all formats. They also offer free pool, shuffle board and free beer pong.
If you’re looking for a weekend breakfast look no further than Lucky Bastard for your fix of eggs and other breakfast fixin’s. They start the day on Saturday and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. other days they begin at 3:00 p.m.
When Nancy and I were in last we went in for the personal pizza because they are really good but since we were there right at 10:00 I went for the Bastard. That’s a 3 egg scramble with ham, bell peppers, white cheddar cheese and scallions and it was very satisfying. Nancy went for the basic bastard breakfast; at $9.00 it has 2 eggs (any style,) tots, Texas toast and choice of bacon or sausage and Nancy’s satisfaction.
Overall this is a pretty good spot to chill with your team. Service has improved a bit since their opening back in August so I’d say 3 out of 4 stars for our hostess.
