Playboy Jazz Festival Free Concert

It's that time of year again as the Playboy Jazz Festival will present a series of free community events leading up to the 33rd annual Playboy Jazz festival set for the weekend of June 11th and 12th, 2011.  The first free concert will be Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Beverly Hills Civic Center Plaza, located at 450 North Rexford Drive, between Santa Monica Boulevard and Burton Way.  Saxophonist and composer Justo Almario will headline the event.  Also appearing will be award winning Israeli pianist Tamir Hendelman and his Trio.  The show starts at 3:30 pm and ends at 5:00 pm.

The Colombian born Almario has recorded with some of the top names in music including: Queen latifah, Jennifer Lopez, George Duke, Herb Alpert, Linda Ronstadt and Andrae Crouch among others.  Tamir Hendelman is a member of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.  He has toured and performed with Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli and  Barbra Streisand among others.  Food and refreshments will be available for purchase to the public.  No glass containers, alcoholic beverages and video or audio recorders are allowed.  Also there is two free hours of parking at the Civic Center parking structure which is adjacent to the Beverly Hills Public Library.  You can log on to http://www.playboyjazzfestival.com for info on the community concert series or the Playboy Jazz Festival.  If you like samba and a whole lot of jazz, this is the place to be on May 1st.  If you get the chance, go out and see some live jazz.
