The Hollywood Bowl is the location again for the 36th Anniversary of the Playboy Jazz Festival. This concert is one of the highlight music festivals of the year. The Hollywood Bowl is one of the great venues for concerts in southern California. This year's show will again be emceed by George Lopez. The dates are the weekend of Saturday, June 14, from 3pm to 11pm and Sunday, June 15, from 3pm to 10:30pm. There will be some stellar names on both days of this concert.
The Saturday lineup will include: Dianne Reeves, Jamie Cullen, Celebrating George Duke starring Al Jarreau & Stanley Clarke, Ndugu Chancler, Paul Jackson, Jr, Byron Miller and more. Also on the bill for Saturday is the Kenny Barron Trio with guest Ravi Coltrane, the Arturo Sandoval Big Band, Tia Fuller among others.
The Sunday lineup will include: George Benson with special guest Earl Klugh, Dave Holland, Kevin Eubanks, Craig Taborn & Eric Harland: Prism. Also on the Sunday program are: Fantasia, Dr. Lonnie Smith In the Beginnings Octet, Jose James, Juan DeMarcos & Afro-Cuban All Stars, Jon Batiste & Stay Human, the James Cotton Blues Band with special guest Big Jay McNeely and more. The Hollywood Bowl is an outdoor venue and most of the seats will be in the sun for a while until the sun starts to go down. If the weather is warm, you might want to wear a hat, sunglasses and use sunscreen. You should have water on hand and you can bring a picnic basket and small cooler as well. You might want to bring a small blanket and a light jacket or sweater in case it gets cool in the evening. This year's show sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
