Playboy Hugh Hefner may be the most iconic bachelor of all time, but he's started 2013 as a newly married man.
Indeed, the 86-year-old Hefner tied the knot the with one-time "runaway bride," Crystal Harris, during a private Playboy Mansion ceremony on New Year's Eve, according to a statement issued Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, by Playboy PR reps.
This Pop Culture Examiner.com first reported on Dec. 3, 2012, that the pair had reunited and announced their latest plans to wed on New Year's Eve.
According to one AP report, among those in attendance at the private affair were rock star Gene Simmons of KISS, comic Jon Lovitz and baseball star Evan Longoria. Per a post-wedding tweet by Hef, his brother, songwriter and actor Keith Hefner, served as his best man. (No official word on whether Hef's now-preggers-ex, Holly Madison, was in attendance.)
Per the Jan. 2 AP story, new bride Harris, who broke off a previous engagement to Hefner just before they were to be married in 2011, wore a strapless soft-pink gown, while third-times-the-charm groom Hefner donned a black tuxedo and his signature captain's hat -- not his trademark smoking jacket or pajamas.
Early Tuesday morning, the Playboy publisher tweeted a pic of himself -- this time in his silk PJs -- and his Playmate missus, along with this message: "Happy New Year from Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hefner!"
For her part, Harris -- who has promptly changed her surname to Hefner on her Twitter account -- tweeted, "Today is the day I become Mrs. Hugh Hefner. Feeling very happy, lucky, and blessed."
Kudos to the happy couple on their union. (Anyone who takes the time to get a matching tux for their pup deserves true happiness.)
