USA- With a few of the "Best Global Arts Information Sites" where do you go to find breaking arts news? If a website sells tickets to an event can I trust a review rating or information provided by the event they are marketing?
"What you first must realize is there are" two types of arts people" that read this information. The "Patrons" who are looking to support the arts, and the second are the "Artists" looking to find work, training or be a "Patron" to an arts event. So all of these sites are marketing to you and your needs, but not always to your budgets!" Theatre Chat.
As a Patron, it is important to share your arts experience through Social Media. Your comments could help sell a few extra tickets to keep an artists with food on the table. Pay attention to the artists posting jobs, what the theatre company is offering to pay them, whether it is a mixed company of Equity (union) or non union performers. Know that both are OK to support for different reasons. Do you know how many weeks an Equity union Actor has to work to keep their medical? If you really love the arts you should know that information, and use it to decide what arts events you will support or make that next donation.
"As an Artist, it is just as important to share arts information as "Theatre Karma" really follows those in the arts. Many of the jobs that were right or not right for me I have shared. When the right position comes up for my talents somehow theatre magic happens. Everyone is at different levels of what is acceptable for housing, payment, benefits... so just because the arts position is not right for you- at this time, it may be the answer to a fellow artists or patron." BroadwayGlobal.
www.Playbill.com: "Playbill is the preeminent destination for all things theatre and has become an internationally known symbol of the arts since 1884. Playbill Magazine can be found in theatres and classical arts venues throughout the country." Playbill.
What BroadwayGlobal loves about Playbill is that they share audition information for free on their site, while providing arts information. Why do you like Playbill? Where do you look for important arts information with truth? Your comments could be posted in the next examiner.com article. Email theatrechat@me.com.
www.BroadwayWorld.com: "BroadwayWorld is the The #1 Web Site for Broadway, Theatre, and Live Entertainment Around the World. BroadwayWorld.com is the largest theatre site on the Internet devoted to all things Broadway as well as theater around the country and world." BroadwayWorld.com.
What BroadwayGlobal loves about Broadway World is that you can create an account sharing your bio and Broadway history information. "The BroadwayWorld Awards are a bit off, as they are really a popularity contest, rather than credited leaders choosing the best in your city or state. But the reason to offer the BroadwayWorld Awards are to capture your emails and market to you. BroadwayWorld wins for Smart Marketing!" Theatre Chat.
www.BackStage.com: Backstage is one of the best places to find national auditions, but you have to pay a fee. Should that fee be passed on to the producers marketing shows to those arts lovers? Why should an Actor pay for audition information when you as artists are needed for the target range of marketing provided in that format? Should the monies be raised by those wishing to market to you... listing Drama Classes, Dance Training, Broadway Plays and Musicals?
It is time for the Actors to start sharing the information on Social Media (Pay it Forward) - If your not right for a role post it for another artists. Use a not for profit website that shares links with over 30 city/state Theatre Chat groups through the use of facebook.
Post Auditions and Show Information for "FREE" because this is your best place to find the truth, what they are saying about the company you are auditioning for, or the show you are about to purchase a ticket to see. This is because they are not making monies off ticket web sale links, so they don't mind being honest on Social Media. "Social Media is the best new way to find breaking arts news. Learn how to share that information as a patron or an artists!" BroadwayGlobal.
www.TheatreChat.net is a not for profit that list over 30 city state Theatre Chat links. The links on facebook share information on Auditions, Show Reviews or what ever your Social Media friends are looking to find or share. examiner.com articles posted on Social Media can be shared and offer Maps to Location, Pictures, Show Logo or Promo Video of the Show. Those elements are important to share - location, picture video. Now the arts are engaging for "Patrons" and "Artists".
www.BroadwayGlobal.org is a new way to share breaking arts news by sending the information direct to email theatrechat@me.com. If you do not know what information should be included, think about what you would want to know when finding the information. Send a website link, a description, address, phone number, a jpg logo/ photo with credit as well as a You Tube promo story clip. Anything that makes the arts link viral is important. I get hundreds of emails a day trying to promote an event, but if the information is not compelling it can't make it to the top of the priority list to post a story. Your Artists so be creative and the arts will continue to inspire through Social Media.
"Know that all the sites listed above have direct relationships to the Broadway or local producers that want to sell you a ticket. They get breaking arts news knowing that information can get your attention to make a purchase. They hire PR just to find ways to make it viral. Be smart as "Patrons" and "Artists" use Social Media to share the arts. The job that pays my benefits has nothing to do with the arts. But, I don't spend a day without trying to find ways to help artists. Because the arts show us how we are all the same, no matter where you live in this BroadwayGlobal Universe." Richard Cameron.
Richard Cameron reminds all theatre lovers to please send your Broadway Global breaking news to email theatrechat@me.com. Share your "Arts Events" with Theatre Chat and Broadway Global.
