Steam announced yesterday that the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” multiplayer mode will be free to play over the gaming service all weekend long. Additionally, Treyarch’s popular shooter will also be 33% off on Steam during this period. This is meant as a celebration for the game’s first DLC add-on, Revolution releasing for the first time next week on the Playstation 3 and Steam.
The “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” Revolution DLC adds new multiplayer maps to the game as well as an extra zombie mode map. Players will also get access to a new weapon by purchasing the add-on and Revolution comes with a new game mode that allows gamers to take on the role of a zombie in-game for the first time.
Valve’s Steam service is become more and more console oriented. The service recently released Big Picture Mode which is specifically a version of Steam designed to be browsed on a TV with a game controller instead of mouse and keyboard. Additionally, Valve announced the first Steambox console earlier this year at CES which puts the Steam gaming service in a home console box that connects to a television and primarily uses a gamepad.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” is out now for the Xbox 360, Plastation 3, PC, and Nintendo’s Wii U.
