You knew it was only a matter of time before plastic would go green. Plarn is recycled plastic turned into yarn.
The lemon; it takes 1000 years for a plastic bag to break down. Plastic bags are seen as food for marine animals and thousands of them lose their lives as a result. Connecticut is still one of the states that allow supermarkets to bag with plastic.
The lemonade; Plarn
I was leery at first. I never thought of plastic bags as anything but less than attractive. Then I looked around and found they made durable, attractive handbags, beach bags and totes. Different stores pack their goods in different weight and color bags. I can see how you can be creative in your design and color choice.
The items can be woven as in baskets, crocheted and/or knitted. RecycleCindy on Ravelry has a colorful crochet handbag pattern. If this is something you would like to try and want a formal hands-on class, there is one coming up next week for you.
If you are interested in a class;
