Electronic Arts and PopCap Games announced new features for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare during a Gamescom press conference on Tuesday. This includes the ability to play as zombies in Xbox 360 and Xbox One multiplayer title and an exclusive new mode boss mode for the Xbox One.
Previously, PopCap Games only showed off a four-player co-op mode where players pick a plant to defeat waves of zombies in the form of a third person shooter. Now the developer has revealed a 24-player multiplayer mode where one side can play as the plants or the other side as the zombies with classes like the Soldier, Engineer and Scientist.
Customization options will also be available in the game for both plants and zombies with "hundreds of unique items" to choose from.
Meanwhile, the Xbox One will receive two exclusive features for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. This includes a 2-player split screen co-op mode as well as Kinect and Xbox SmartGlass support for Boss mode, a new gametype that allows players to control the garden battlefield either from Crazy Dave's RV or Dr. Zomboss' blimp. It's kind of like the Battlefield 4 commander mode but with zombies and plants.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will be released in the spring of 2014 for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. You can check out the 24-player multiplayer trailer by clicking here and the Boss mode gameplay by clicking here.
