Plant tomatoes now in Las Vegas gardens

See also

Tomato plants are warm season sun loving plants that can be grown in Las Vegas garden beds or in large pots or patio containers.

There are hundreds of varieties, shapes and sizes of tomato plants and tomato fruits.

Determinate tomatoes are more compact and don’t need staking.

Indeterminate types are sprawling and will need training and support.

Most tomato plants will not set fruit in the summer when temperatures are above 100F degrees. Planting early allows for a crop of fruit to set before it gets too hot. Fruit will start to set again in the early fall when the temperatures start to cool down.

Some varieties are bred to grow in hot climates and are best for Vegas conditions. The events listed below are good places to get information on the best varieties to grow here.
